A big international player in the dairy industry recently challenged J-Tec’s engineers to find a proper solution for mixing a hygroscopic and lightly hazardous product into liquids. A short summary of the installation: J-Tec installed its own hygienic and ergonomically designed bag dumping station for the discharging of the hazardous solids into the process flow. This slightly modified system has an integrated preparation tank which by means of an agitator creates a X% water/product solution. Next to the operator his comfort, his safety is guaranteed as well due to a highly efficient dedusting system. Because the area is classified as a “wet zone” J-Tec connected a wet scrubber to the dedusting system. This piece of equipment separates the polluted particles from the exhaust air excluding any form of contamination. When the required mixture is reached it will be transported into one of the installed buffer tanks. Because the required water/product solution

Prevent dust explosions in the workplace Explosions and fires from combustible materials are a known hazard and can give rise to serious injury - perhaps even fatality - as well having as the potential to cause extensive plant and buildings damage and substantial loss of production. Legislation introduced in 2002 - the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002 (DSEAR) - rationalised workplace assessment for fire and explosion hazard identification, and methods of prevention or mitigation. DSEAR requires all workplaces where substances that could give rise to fire or explosion are handled or stored must be fully assessed and protected. Recently, Felleskjopet replaced its old PLC control by PROMAS ST factory automation from KSE Process Technology. This was realised within the planned schedule so production could proceed rapidly. The Norwegian company mainly produces cattle feed and several special feed. `PROMAS ST is the right choice for us because it optimizes the process control and stock management significantly,` says the Project Manager from Felleskjopet. `In addition, our truck drivers can now easily load trucks on their own,` he continues. `With the Track&Trace function within PROMAS ST we can precisely trace the raw materials used in the end product, and vice versa. We developed an innovative system for emptying big bags safely in a particle-free environment for a wide range of users who process powders, particles or granulates that are supplied in big bags. The emptying station can empty up to 15 big bags per hour. The big bags are first placed on a special vibrating plate, after which the operator connects the transport hose and unties the bag. Extremely precise installation Large silo installations require tremendous precision. Silo users demand an extreme tight silo for sanitary reasons. This pushes us to the limit regarding the individual silo parts tolerances. In particular, very tall silo installations are challenging. Since we are talking modular silos, small tolerances in every single silo part may add up to a big tolerance 30 meters up. Resulting in an untight silo with contamination risks. By using bolts and nuts combined with extreme precise silo parts, we force the single parts tight together. This enables us to keep total level tolerance <5mm at +30mtr height. The rounded bolt heads have a hygienic design. So that’s why we use bolts and nuts!
