This is used for the humidification of fly ash from a combined heating and power plant in Scandinavia. A number of engineers from Dinnissen Process Technology are using Virtual Reality in order to already provide the customer an experience of the new plant. Because the customer can walk virtually through the installation together with the Dinnissen engineer in the ”real environment”, they can already anticipate in the design phase what they will encounter in the realization phase, creating a more complete picture. Bottlenecks become visible even before construction takes place, whereby commissioning times are also shortened. Energy efficient drive design for any application The selection of the correct drive is an important element in the development of a system. In order to design the most optimal motor for your individual machine, amongst other things, the torque and speed must be defined. It pays to make an exact calculation. Both an over-sized or under-sized drive can result in additional costs. If an air motor is too large, the initial outlay and air consumption is higher than necessary. Version 5.3 provides simulation specialists with notable performance improvements and powerful app design and deployment capabilities with new modeling and development tools, solvers, and user-driven features. In many cases, users will experience a speedup of ten times or more in software responsiveness, such as in preprocessing tasks for handling models with several thousand boundaries and domains. With version 5.3 the boundary element method (BEM) is available for modeling electrostatics and corrosion effects. The Boundary Element method enables users to simulate models with infinite domains and voids, as well as to quickly set up simulations that combine wires, beams, surfaces, and solids in the same model. Users handling large CFD models will benefit from the new algebraic multigrid (AMG) solver implemented in version 5.3. The AMG solver requires only a single mesh level and is now the default option for many fluid flow and transport phenomena interfaces.

Last month, EDM Béton, has installed two new silos with a storage capacity of 63m³ for one of its customers. The GRP silos were produced and delivered by M.I.P and are meant for the storage of cement. On one of their sites, M.I.P. had already delivered four GRP silos in 2012. The silos are insensitive to condensation, so they are ideal for the storage of cement.

Graphite is a soft, slippery, greyish-black substance. It has a metallic luster and is opaque to light. Graphite is a good conductor of heat and electricity. Often graphite is simply named carbon. Under inert gas or vacuum graphite is extremely temperature-resistant which makes it an interesting material for high temperature applications. By heating graphite up to 3000°C its properties are optimized. As a result, heat treatment of graphite is a growing market and graphite has become an important material for a variety of applications all over the world. Graphite is often part of composite materials.

Selection of suitable laboratory mills and accessories A solid sample material should always be sufficiently prepared by size reduction and homogenization before it is subjected to chemical or physical analysis. Care should be taken that the analysis sample fully represents the original material and that the sample preparation process is carried out reproducibly. Only then are meaningful results guaranteed. Most sample materials can be reduced to the required analytical fineness at room temperature by choosing a mill with a suitable size reduction principle (impact, pressure, friction, shearing, cutting). However, there are limits for size reduction at room temperature, for example when even a small temperature increase affects the sample in a negative way; or when the material is very elastic and the above mentioned size reduction principles only cause deformation.
