Removal of metal contaminants Magnet or Metal Detector?
Removal of metal contaminants
Magnet or Metal Detector? Magnetic separators filter and remove metal contamination from your product streams. They guarantee the product quality and prevent damage to machines. Metal contaminants – also called foreign bodies – can enter your production line in all sorts of ways. Pieces of iron or steel in the raw material, staples, nails and screws from packaging, bolts and nuts that have vibrated loose, wear of the moving parts, rust or corrosion, etc. These foreign bodies can ’contaminate’ your finished product, and they can also cause severe damage to your machinery. Rejection of batches is costly, but it can be even more costly if the contamination is not detected and removed, making it necessary to conduct a product recall. You will then be faced with enormous costs and damage to your reputation. Magnet separator or metal detector? A magnetic separator filters (and later disposes of) or immediately removes the metal contaminants from the product stream. Magnetic separators

Cadmes proud sponsor of The Ocean Cleanup
He’s only 21, but Dutchman Boyan Slat has already achieved global fame with his ‘Ocean Cleanup’: an installation of V-shaped long floating arms that are positioned at strategic points in the sea, where they collect all the plastic that is floating about in the ocean. The first prototype was presented recently. As proud sponsor of this project, Cadmes was there to see the long scale model with our own eyes. “We had an enormous sense of pride,” according to CEO Gerbert Thelissen. Around 8 million tonnes of plastic ends up in the ocean every year. Boyan Slat’s mission? To extract all this plastic so it can be recycled. So in 2013, Slat launched ‘The Ocean Cleanup’ project: a foundation that develops technologies to extract plastic pollution from the oceans and prevent more plastic debris from entering ocean waters. The project has received over $2.2 million in crowdfunding and financial contributions from large sponsors. Cadmes is happy to be supporting

M.I.P. starts with 5S
M.I.P. starts with 5S
Focusing on the customer, how do you do this? By attuning your processes to the needs of the customer. Furthermore, a well organised workplace forms the foundation of good work processes. 5S is an approved action plan originating from the Japanese Lean philosophy, which supports this. Last summer, M.I.P. Tanks & Silos started with the deployment of a 5S and Lean track, in collaboration with The Lean Six Sigma Company. The work areas are being reorganised and employees are being actively involved in process improvement by means of day start boards, visual management and standardisation. “Let’s make better silos and tanks together” is the new motto. This sounds nice, of course. But in reality, the company is dedicated to this vision with hearts and minds as well. By investing in 5S and Lean at this moment, the basis of a new corporate culture is being created.

Infastaub presents innovations of cartridge filter AJP
New design of cartridge filter Infa-Jetron AJP and now available with secondary filter sta The popular Infa-Jetron AJP series, designed as dust collectors or vent filters, has received enhancement. As of now the dust collector is available with a secondary filter stage, too. The second filter stage with filter cassette reduces the residual dust content and serves as safety filter at the same time. Further features of the filter unit are additional lengths of filter cartridges of 500 mm and 1,400 mm. The filter surface and the volume flow are consequently extended. Different possibilities for raw gas inlet and clean gas outlet also provide a large flexibility as well as the different basicmaterials for the raw gas and clean gas area. Additional benefits of the new AJP dust collector are: - easier assembly - extended volume flow ranges - more filter surface at less floor space - higher safety and less residual dust content because of secondary filter stage

Laboratory: Continuous & controlled dispensing of powders
Introducing new LAMBDA Hi-DOSER: For bigger volumes and higher dosing speeds! Safe, controlled and reproducible dosing of crystalline or powdery substances is a big problem on laboratory scale. The LAMBDA DOSER and the new Hi-DOSER powder dosing system (with five times higher flow rates) is best suited for automated powder feeding. Now, all the powder dispensers can get delivered also with 3 liter storage vessels! In life science or analytical laboratories, it is important to weigh the powders accurately and to reproduce the same results during the sample preparation process, filling same amount of substance in different recipients or adding defined amount of chemicals to the reactors, etc. Manual handling of substances with a spoon or spatula is inefficient due to risks of cross contamination, spillage and unrepeatable or inaccurate weight of the dosed powders. With the powder DOSER, the handling of free flowing and homogeneous powders in the laboratory is made simple and safe. The dispensing process can be automated with the

establish product type and flow behavior
Classify with Feeder Scout How do you make someone explain the properties of the bulk material when it is practically not measurable data such as product type and flow behavior? In order to select the right knowledge of a product feeder is indispensable. In addition to matters such as bulk density, particle size, temperature, pressure and dosing are mainly the product type and the flow behavior essential data. The product type and flow behavior are difficult to classify in practice; this are not specify any standards. What calls the n powder, calls the other grain. What is a normal flowing product in the perception of one producer, is the other manufacturer with a very good running product and so we can still mention a few examples. Feeder Scout as a tool for classifying product type and flow behavior The online program Feeder Scout is a simple tool to classify product type and flow behavior and capture. Thus it easier to select the correct feeder. Moreover, it is thus possible to communicate

Weighing equipment made smarter. NEW. A load cell junction b
Weighing equipment made smarter.
NEW. A load cell junction b It seems too good to be true, a system that can find out if independent load cells are functional or not. Even better,- a system that can automatically adjusting the calibration when a load cell or the weighing indicator has been changed! Most measuring and weighing systems, based on strain gage load cells, consist of more than one sensor. These sensors are usually connected analogue by a junction box. Since the sensors are all connected parallel, the average measurement of the sensors is sent to the system. This way of operation works fine, until a load cell breaks down. The challenge usually is to find out which of the loadcells is defect. This is usually not sufficiently identified and the system continues to operate with a deficiency. In order to overcome this drawback we developed an ”intelligent” load cell cable junction box, the SIGMA4. During a system test, the junction box and the indicator measures the load cell output per sensor, compares this against

Lindor mixers perfect for cocoa
It is becoming increasingly important to mix cocoa very meticulously For consumers, price is not the most important aspect, it’s the quality of the chocolate. Our gentle touch mixing technology fully complies with this trend. Without any concessions to the quality, texture and flavour, Lindor mixers mix the cocoa powders and, where required, the beans, with batches of other products. Gravity does most of the work Fixed vanes in a rotating drum carry the beans around, while gravity does the work of mixing the product. Apart from gravity, no other force is exerted on the product in a Lindor mixer, as is usually the case with other mixers. There is no (frictional) heat, the powder particles and the beans remain intact, are not deformed and oils and fats are not forced out. This unique method also has animportant advantage: very low power consumption of less than 1kW for a batch of 500kg. The design also has its advantages. Because of the shape of the vanes, the mixing time is very short, it empties quickly and completely, and is

New generation magnetic separators for powders Simulation and practical tests lead to improved design
New generation magnetic separators for powders
Simulation and practical tests lead to improved design The Goudsmit Magnetics Group of Waalre (NL) will introduce a new generation of magnetic separators at the Solids trade show in Antwerp (stand H4240). These are used to remove metal particles («30 µm) from powders in the food, chemical, ceramic and other industries. The Easy Clean flow magnet stands out from the competition due to its user friendly cleaning, improved flow and the high Gauss values of the bars. In contrast to previous designs, in which such magnets were fitted with two layers of thin (Ø25 mm) bars, the new design contains a single row of Ø50 mm thick bars. New measurement techniques, including simulations of magnetic fields and tests in the company’s own test centre, have shown that this results in a higher separation yield. This is because the thicker bars remain in contact with the magnetic particles longer. An additional benefit is the reduced height of the magnet as a whole, which means it requires less installation height. Moreover, a single
