The tradition goes on: Richard-Sebastian Moeller was awarded
this year’s LUM Young Scientist The 9th International Conference on Dispersion Analysis & Materials Testing took place in Berlin, Germany. Since 2014 the LUM Young Scientist Award (YSA) recognizes outstanding scientific work by young researchers in the areas of particle and dispersion characterization and materials testing. Three candidates from Europe and North America were nominated this year. They presented their results during the session. Dr.-Ing. Richard-Sebastian Moeller, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany, was awarded this year’s LUM Young Scientist for his research work on the adhesion phenomena in the bakery trade, forming part of his dissertation. With his nominated research work ”From the Life of Proving Cloths“ [1] Moeller significantly contributes to a better understanding of particle adhesion on surfaces. He issues hands-on instructions for the hygienic design of woven cloths, and for cleanly maximizing their service life. The LUMiSizer is used here for the determination

International conference in May celebrates 25th anniversary of LUM GmbH in Berlin
International conference in May
celebrates 25th anniversary of LUM GmbH in Berlin LUM GmbH is a leading international provider of innovative measurement technology for dispersion analysis and materials testing. Since the founding of the company by Prof. Dr. Dr. D. Lerche in 1994, LUM is also obliged to science. The company promotes science and technology and contributes by own research work to the further development of the competence fields: particle characterization, suspension and emulsion analysis and stability analysis and determination of adhesive and bonding strengths. LUM celebrates its 25th anniversary by organizing the 9th International Conference Dispersion Analysis and Materials Testing in Berlin from 22 – 23 May 2019. The final programme invites particle scientists, formulators of dispersions and emulsions, material testers from all over the world to Berlin, to exchange know-how and experiences. The keynote lecture ”Progress in particle characterization by sedimentation analysis“ will be given by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Peukert,

Diamonds, Nanotubes and Onions made from Carbon LUM supports NanoCarbon Conference 2019
Diamonds, Nanotubes and Onions made from Carbon
LUM supports NanoCarbon Conference 2019 For the 5th time the Network NanoCarbon would like to invite you to the Annual Conference in Würzburg, Germany, from 26-27 February 2019. The event offers an open forum to the nanocarbon community for exchanging results and ideas. It is the most important communication platform for innovative and commercial activities in the field of carbon nanomaterials (e.g. CNTs, graphenes and nano-diamond) within Germany and beyond [1]. The product portfolio of Berlin based LUM GmbH provides innovative analytical instruments for the characterization of the entire life cycle of carbon materials, for carbon black and graphene, nano-diamonds, Carbon nanotubes and Carbon onions. For the quality control of raw materials, on the basis of their particle size distributions, the Dispersion Analyser LUMiSizer is used for nanoparticles. For the characterization of dispersibility and separation stability or shelf life the user needs to know the product properties in its original concentration.

Qualification of international LUM sales experts secures further growth of LUM GmbH
Qualification of international LUM sales experts secures
further growth of LUM GmbH The 20th International Sales Meeting will be hosted by LUM GmbH in Berlin-Adlershof from 23-25 January 2019. The technical and cultural exchange of the sales experts from LUM companies from Asia, Europe and North America with the world-wide partners forms the basis of further growth of LUM GmbH over the next years. “Last year we could increase the turnover by 6.8 %, compared to 2017, despite more challenging international economic conditions, including the Brexit. The positive trend for LUM continues. In 2019 we will carry on with the hard work to consolidate the success and to grow further. We are optimistic despite an alternating forecast for international economic developments. Export plays an important role for LUM. We need to copy the formula for success of our young subsidiaries in China & Japan and of our established subsidiary in the US to the exclusive distribution partners in many countries in all parts of the world. Our distributors and our own sales force

Young Scientists from Materials Testing, Particle
and Dispersion Characterization are invited to apply for Young Scientist Award 2019 From 22-23 May 2019 LUM GmbH hosts the 9th International Conference Dispersion Analysis & Materials Testing in Berlin, Germany. Since 2014 the Young Scientist Award recognizes outstanding scientific work by young researchers in the areas of particle and dispersion characterization and materials testing. Due to many top qualified applications, for the first time four candidates were nominated in 2018. Christian Ullmann from Technical University Dresden, Research Group of Mechanical Process Engineering, became Young Scientist 2018. He was awarded for his work to evaluate analytical centrifugation (LUMiSizer®) for the particle size analysis of real-world nanomaterials. He is a worthy successor of Samuel J. Skinner (Australia, 2016) and Johannes Walter (Germany, 2016), Jos van Rijssel (The Netherlands, 2015), Shir Liber (Israel, 2014). The potentials for nanoparticle characterization by this technique in comparison to other methods have been discovered by Ullmann. His

Dispersion Analysis and Materials Testing 2018 Conference Report: International Workshop
Dispersion Analysis and Materials Testing 2018
Conference Report: International Workshop Extract from the full report by Dr.-Ing. Hildegard Lyko, free-lanced journalist 1. Introduction This year, the Workshop clearly focussed on particle characterization and stability analysis. With 16 lectures announced, ..., participants had good opportunities to discuss the interesting results from testing materials by means of analytical centrifugation and gravity sedimentation. A large variety of application fields was covered ..., ranging from inorganic particles, bacteria cultures, dairy products, and fruit drinks to technical suspensions containing ceramic or organic particles as well as to emulsions for diverse industrial applications. Besides particle characterization and stability testing, the analytical instruments by LUM play a decisive role in the determination of filterability or in the optimization of production processes. 4. Young Scientist Awards This year three nominees from German universities and one candidate from China had been
