BEUMER provides Lafarge Zementwerke GmbH with conveying technology
Lafarge Zementwerke GmbH in Mannersdorf, Austria, has commissioned BEUMER Group to install a conveying system for alternative fuels and raw materials. The customer benefits from an optimum price-performance ratio and state-of-the art technology. For an economical and sustainable operation, the Austrian plant Mannersdorfof Lafarge Zementwerke GmbH relies on plastic waste as an alternative fuel and raw material. When the old conveying system was irreparably damaged after a fire in June 2020, the owner commissioned BEUMER Group to supply a new and more powerful system. The order includes two Pipe Conveyors, which convey the material. The first conveyor has a diameter of 200 millimetres and a length of 87 metres. Its conveying capacity amounts to ten tons per hour. The second Pipe Conveyor is 192 metres long, has a diameter of 250 millimetres and a conveying capacity of 22 tons per hour. The lifting heights amount to approx. 39 metres and the maximum angle of inclination is 15 degrees. There are also three buffer bins and a weigh feeder. In addition to the delivery and installation, the BEUMER team also handles engineering and commissioning. "As a team, we were able to convince the persons responsible of our

BEUMER Group: An energy-efficient alternative
Fully automated tyre transport system at HeidelbergCement ensures continuous feed of waste tyres as secondary The manufacture of cement is particularly energy-intensive. To reduce the use of valuable primary fuels like coal, HeidelbergCement is opting for alternative fuels, such as waste tyres. The calorific value of rubber is comparable to that of hard coal. And because the iron from the armouring can be incorporated mineralogically into the cement, it reduces the need to add ferrous corrective substances. Beumer group supplied the fully-automated system that sorts, separates and regulates the tyres of different sizes and weights and feeds them to the rotary kiln inlet. The system supplier also took over the installation and provided the steel structure. Thanks to the new system, the kiln of the cement plant is now fed with a constant stream of material. The tyres that are used are production waste coming from the manufacturers as well as waste tyres from trucks and cars. This also means that they vary greatly: their diameters vary between min. 300 and max. 1,600 millimetres,

HDPV2 Handling Cement Powder
HDPV2 Handling Cement Powder
In this client’s application, the Vortex HDPV2 is installed alongside a second pre-existing slide gate. The two gates operate in tandem to be used as a diverter. The HDPV2 is 355 mm per the client’s request. The HDPV2 is capable of handling material temperatures up to 121°C continuous service, with modifications available to accommodate material temperatures up to 232°C. Thus, material temperatures were not a concern. Though cement powder can be abrasive, the HDPV2 has proven capable of handling this material. Therefore, material characteristics were not a concern. In this application, a greater concern was convey line pressure. Although the 356 mm HDPV2 valve is capable of sealing against convey line pressures up to 3.10 barg, there was initial concern that if both gates were closed at once, undue stress may be put on the HDPV2 and could test the gate’s sealing capabilities. The client assured at least one gate would be open at all times; therefore,
